Para aquellos que no esten familiarizados con la mitología que envuelve a esta franquicia de Hasbro, "El Caído" hace referencia a los 13 Transformers originales creados por Primus. En el principio de los tiempos, Primus decidió crear nueva vida, los trece Transformers originales, para que tripulasen su forma planetaria en la batalla contra Unicron, su eterno némesis. Sin embargo, uno de los trece comenzó a obsesionarse con el lado oscuro del caos y la muerte hasta tal punto que finalmente optó por adorar a un dios más cercano a su naturaleza, convirtiéndose en "El Caído" y traicionando a su creador y sus hermanos para unirse a Unicron. Los nombres de la mayor parte de los Trece quedaron perdidos en la noche de los tiempos pero algunos de los que han sido explícitamente nombrados como parte de este grupo son Prima, Vector Prime y, por supuesto, El Caído. Tendremos que esperar al 26 de junio de 2009 para saber cuantos de ellos llegarán hasta la gran pantalla.
